Light of the Western Stars is unique in that it is primarily told from the perspective of an eastern woman who moves to the Arizona-Mexico border to run a ranch she inherits at the turn of the 20th century. She goes through a tumultuous relationship with a down and out cowboy and endures being kidnapped by a vile character before rushing to save the man she loves, who has run afoul of the Mexican military.
