Riders of the Purple Sage- The Opera

February 25, 2017 was a huge day for fans of Zane Grey.  It was the world premiere of Arizona Opera's "Riders of the Purple Sage." Hundreds of cowboys and opera fans rose together in a standing ovation at what had become a cross-cultural explosion of love. Among the crowd were more than a dozen descendents of Grey.  They were adored by fans, new and old. Zane Grey's West Society was honored to have been asked by composer Craig Bohmler to consult on the project and members in attendance were overwhelmed with the performance.

When we talk about the Riders of the Purple Sage Opera, it would be remiss to not also talk about Kristen Atwell Ford's award winning supplemental documentary "Riders of the Purple Sage- The Making of a Western Opera."
